The Cairns Italian Festival begins with La Messa, a special Mass celebrated in Italian at Saint Monica’s Cathedral by Bishop Joe, who will also bless the festival, officially opening the week’s celebrations. We are deeply grateful to Bishop Joe and the Catholic Diocese of Cairns for supporting this important event and helping us honor the strong connection between faith, culture, and the Italian community in our region.
La Messa is more than a ceremonial opening; it is a celebration of Italian heritage, tradition, and the enduring spirit of the Italian community in North Queensland.
